Hello, future forever family! My name is River, and I’m a six-year-old Great Dane with a heart as big as my paws. I was born on June 21, 2018, and have been living my best life since I was a small puppy. My humans have taught me so much over the years, and I’m proud to say that I’m house trained and have completed some fun puppy classes. I may be a big girl, but I’m a gentle giant, always eager to share my love and cuddle with my people. You’ll often find me following you from room to room, because being close to my humans makes me so happy!

I’ve got a playful spirit and love exploring the world on walks. Meeting new friends, both human and canine, brings me joy, though I must admit I prefer the company of women—men warm my heart quickly, too…I just may need a little extra time to feel comfortable with them.  While I enjoy being outdoors, I am sensitive to the heat and cold, so I prefer sunny, mild days where I can stretch my legs without feeling too hot or chilly. I’m comfortable in my crate for sleeping at night, and I’ve been fine with being kennel-stayed while my family goes on vacation. I know that in a loving home, I may not even need a crate!

Let’s talk about some fun-facts about me: I’m in great health, fully vaccinated, and while I like to bark when something catches my attention, it’s just my way of saying, “Hey, look over here!” I have a natural hunting instinct, so a fenced yard is a must to keep me safe and sound from chasing after squirrels or tiny critters. I do have a bit of a stubborn side and can be possessive of my people when it comes to treats and toys, which means I’m probably best suited to a home as your one and only furry love or with a similar-sized male dog. Cats aren’t really my thing, and I haven’t been around small children, so I’d prefer a calm home with adults or older kids—maybe 12 years old and up.

I know it’s heartbreaking to part ways with my current family, but they want what’s best for me, especially with our older canine friend needing more space and care. I truly believe that in the right home, I’ll show you all the joy and love a Great Dane can offer. If you think we might be a match, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
