Dane-a-Thon May 15, 2016 ~ Follow up!

didadmin Danes in Distress Comments Off on Dane-a-Thon May 15, 2016 ~ Follow up!

Our 26th Dane-a-Thon was a huge success with 230 people and 133 dogs (123 Great Danes!) in attendance.

The weather was cold, with occasional sleet/snow flurries, but that didn’t deter the many Dane enthusiasts who attended. The tents somehow managed to remain upright despite the wind and the number of attendees far surpassed our expectations.

Everyone had a great time, with the dogs having a barrel of fun. We’re sure there were lots of doggy (and human) snores on Sunday night!

A special ‘Thank You’ goes to our Vet, Dr. Ken Burgess; our chef, Vassily Salytchev, for providing welcome hot meals; Sherri Davis and her training team from BRB K9 Services for answering participants’ behavioural questions and provided dog games.

Our thanks go to all the volunteers and donors who made it possible to celebrate our 60th Anniversary of rescuing Great Danes, and those who attended to make the event a huge success.

The DiD Volunteer Team.
